Response to Oura Sananikone Lunchtime Lecture

Oura Sananikone is an artist who works with a variety of mediums such as: paintings, comics, action figures, music, murals, and even some animations. He noted that his work is inspired by comics, cartoons, abstract expressionism, Basquiat, meet and greets with other artists, toys, and even graffiti.

During this lecture, I learned much about the opportunities an artist can have just by "putting yourself out there." Oura encourages getting out into the art world, whether that be museum visits, meet and greets, shows, etc, and learning from other artists as well as showing off your own work.

One thing that particularly surprised me was his ability to combine both sci-fi elements and philosophical themes into deep-emotional pieces. If I could ask him any questions, I'd ask to see photos of his art progression so I could closely examine the development of his style.
