Process Post: In Class Project #7 and #8 (Part III)
Since my last post with this project, I have made some edits. I worked on the face a lot more in order to make it resemble the reference photo more accurately. I specifically fixed the shape of Jimmy's nose, made his eyes more squinty, and adjusted the values. I also worked on the basketball hoop more. I painted over the net with a mix of blue and white to make it stand out better. For my most recent edits, I have begun to string the tubing into the piece. I still have more w

Process Post: In Class Project #7 and #8 (part II)
To add value to my piece, I went in with blue watercolor. I am happy I went in with blue because I think it makes Jimmy look more three-dimensional. I additionally tinted the background yellow to make the piece more cohesive. I also went in with watered-down white acrylic paint to pull out some highlights and to color the basketball net more realistically. As I continue to work on this piece, I plan to reshape Jimmy's face a bit more. I plan to make his nose a little wider an

Process Post: In Class Project #7 and #8
My older brother, Jimmy, is significantly disabled. He has cerebral palsy and epilepsy, however the exact diagnosis of his overall complex condition remains unknown and is likely genetic. He is also medically fragile. As a result of his various diagnoses, my brother is a wheelchair user, profoundly intellectually disabled, non-verbal, and requires around the clock care in order to keep him safe.
