My most recent project I have been working on is my oil painting of a still life. I began with assembling my canvas, priming the canvas, and setting up my reference still life. The first actual step of painting I did was a pre-drawing in charcoal. Although making the first marks on the canvas is my least favorite part, this step was pretty smooth sailing. Then I began oil painting in black and white to map out my values. This is the step that I am still currently on. I enjoy painting the values, it feels like the right amount of challenge, not too much or too little. I've never painted with oil paint before, but I enjoy it.
