Progress Post: In-class Project #1

For this piece, I am trying to illustrate a child's hand doodling. I also want these doodles to fade into realistic images because I am trying to depict this child's imagination coming off the page. I think the biggest challenge I am dealing with is my race against time. I have made good progress, but I still need to finish coloring the hand, color all the realistic images, and then draw the doodles. Because of timing, I think I might just make the realistic images gray-scale, which might end up being an interesting contrast. Additionally, I had some trouble drawing the hand with colored pencils. I have never attempted to draw a realistic flesh-tone before because I am often too scared. This is actually the reason that I often draw people with rainbow/colorful skin tones. I did some practice in my sketchbook before actually trying it on my piece, and I think I am getting the hang of it.
