Process Post: Project #5 / In Class Project #4

For this piece, I wanted to continue building upon my idea of the hidden identity in discarded items. I decided to collage my younger brother out of his trash for this. My goals for this project are to incorporate more body language and to incorporate a background. I crafted my brother roasting a marsh mellow with the background of a forest. The trash I chose for my brother to display his identity include M&M trash, pages from children's books, Nilla Wafer trash, Sun Chips trash, and tinted pages from a coloring book. For the background, I tried to make it look similar to a coloring page in order to further push the idea of a young child's identity and interests. For a final touch, I glued a stick to my brother's hand with a painted eraser at the end in order to make it look like he was roasting a marsh mellow. The process for this piece was very time consuming, but I am happy with how it came out. If I could go back in time, I think I would have worked on the background a little more.
